The CIRTL Associate Certification provides foundational knowledge and skills essential for effective teaching and learning practices across diverse educational settings. This microcredential equips participants with evidence-based teaching strategies, an understanding of learning communities, and the importance of diversity and inclusion within teaching-as-research. Participants engage in workshops and courses that cover pedagogical practices and social responsibility, fostering a strong foundation for future educational roles. By completing this certification, learners demonstrate their commitment to effective teaching and their ability to contribute positively to inclusive and diverse learning environments.

Earning Criteria

- Participate in 4 activities (workshops or courses) across topics on pedagogical practices.
- Participate in 1 additional activity (workshop or course) focused on Social.
- Responsibility can include any of the following: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Ethics.
- Complete a teaching philosophy statement and cover letter.

Approximately 1-1.5 semesters, or 15-20 weeks.

- Evaluate the significance of social responsibility, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethics, in the context of education, and its role in fostering inclusive learning environments.
- Construct a well-defined teaching philosophy statement that reflects a personal commitment to effective teaching, student success, and continuous improvement.
- Compose a cover letter that effectively communicates the alignment between acquired pedagogical skills, social responsibility, and the ability to enhance student learning experiences.
