The Shriver Student Leader microcredential acknowledges students’ significant role in fostering self-efficacy, dedication to community-engaged learning, and commitment to the mission of The Shriver Center and Community Engaged Learning Team. This microcredential signifies impactful contributions to the Greater Baltimore Region. Student Leaders will cultivate belonging among their fellow students while practicing the values that guide Shriver Center partnerships. They will create and implement intentional reflection sessions with diverse audiences while maintaining administrative excellence. Earners of this microcredential organize volunteer training sessions, lead reflection sessions, manage logistics for community service, and participate in Shriver Center administrative duties.

Earning Criteria

- Complete at least two semesters as a Shriver Center Student Leader
- Hold individual and group reflection sessions throughout the semester
- Attend Global Reflections
- Conduct student meetings and Shriver Center administrative duties.
- Submit a Shriver Center curated portfolio (including social media posts)

Additional Details

Learning Outcomes

1. Organize volunteer training sessions, manage logistics for transportation, locations, movement, and attendance, and prepare materials for meetings, events, and reflection spaces.
2. Describe the work and value of their service site and recruit other individuals to volunteer and participate in a team.
3. Lead and design reflection sessions for participants to find meaning in their service through authentic and difficult conversations.
4. Communicate across diverse community stakeholders, faculty, staff, participants, and other student leaders;
5. Adapt to changing plans and complex situations.
6. Reflect on one's personal and leadership identity by deepening the understanding of one's values, sense of belonging, and empathy through service coordination.
