The Networking 101 microcredential is designed for emerging professionals in a university setting. Networking is a key skill for emerging professionals to create, sustain, and utilize professional relationships within their industry. Learners will review the available networking platforms and opportunities within the university setting. Additionally, learners will identify key individuals with whom to establish professional relationships to further their career goals. Learners will understand the importance of professional demeanor and strategies to approach other professionals to establish a relationship. This microcredential will provide learners with the knowledge and skills to network confidently with professionals in their desired field both virtually and face-to-face. Learners will demonstrate this skill by crafting a 30-second elevator pitch personalized to their current career goals.

- Complete the knowledge course and its component requirements
- Complete the 30-second elevator pitch
- Submit reflection

- Describe the benefits of networking to create a professional network for job opportunities.
- Identify spaces where networking can occur (e.g. conferences, classrooms, extracurricular activities) during one's experience at UMBC
- Demonstrate the importance of professional demeanor and strategies to approach other professionals to establish a relationship
- Describe the resources available for networking at UMBC
- Craft a personalized 30-second elevator pitch tailored to their current career goals
