Placemaking
Through a series of engaging activities, including group discussions, case studies, simulations, and project-based assessments, earners of this badge develop the skills to identify and implement inclusive practices for establishing a learning community. They will learn how to positively value and accurately describe the knowledge, skills, and experiences of community leaders, specifically related to the cultivation of a sense of place and employment of placemaking strategies and activities.
Earners of this badge will also have the opportunity to critically reflect on their own "sense of place" and its relevance and relationship to the sense of place shared by diverse community members or that present in the built environment of diverse community settings. They will be able to articulate the theoretical and practical aspects of core concepts of place, places, and placemaking and their implications for community development and leadership.
At the end of the program, earners of this badge will be recognized for their acquired ability to interpret and cultivate a rich sense of place within complex community settings, and to actively shape that sense of place through intentional and creative meaning-making.
