Video Production Challenge
The Video Production Challenge microcredential offers students an immersive opportunity within UMBC's STEM-Ready program, developed in collaboration with Apple Education. This unique experience extends beyond conventional classroom learning, providing participants with real-world insights into STEM careers and cutting-edge technologies.
Participants engage in a comprehensive exploration of STEM professions, gaining valuable perspectives from industry experts. Following these enriching experiences, students dive into the Video Production Challenge, where they are tasked with creating a 2-3 minute video and accompanying poster.
Throughout the Video Production Challenge, students demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively by presenting the essence of the STEM-Ready program and sharing insights from current participants while showcasing their mastery of video production elements such as audio, visuals, accessibility, and messaging. They leverage provided iPads equipped with video production apps like iMovie, Clips, and GarageBand to enhance their projects. Students appoint leaders, develop project management plans, schedule meetings, distribute tasks, and navigate production challenges while ensuring accountability and support through peer evaluations.
The Video Production Challenge microcredential equips students with practical skills and fosters confidence in diverse STEM environments, preparing them for future academic and professional endeavors.
Earning Criteria
